The 2015-16 school year is about to end and with it comes the end of one era and the beginning of another.

That’s because the new K-8 building will be completed and ready for operation in the fall of 2016 and the old elementary and middle schools buildings will be demolished in June.

The elementary school was opened in 1956 and served the community for 60 years. The middle school was built in 1931 and served as a high school until 1974 when the existing high school was completed – at which time the school was utilized as a middle school for grades sixth through eighth.

When completed for the 2016-17 school year, the new K-8 building will be attached to the existing high school as all students in Covington Exempted Village Schools will be educated on one campus.
