The Class of 2016 were awarded their diplomas on Sunday at Hobart Arena in Troy with family and friends on hand to celebrate their final accomplishments as Covington High School students.
The Valedictorian was Haylee E. Pence and the Salutatorian was Bernard T. Kuether (known as Ben), who both gave inspiring speeches during the ceremony..
The Class of 2016 consisted of 57 graduates and 12 received Honors Diplomas: Logan Fields, Brooke Gostomnsky, Bernard Kuether, Sarah Pond, Connor Ryan, Danielle Swabb, Kristopher Gibboney, Cooper Hand, Haylee Pence, Arianna Richards, Carly Shell and Levi Winn.
Plus, the Class of 2016 had six graduates earn Academic Excellence Awards with a 3.9 GPA or higher; Logan Fields, Brooke Gostomsky, Bernard Kuether, Haylee Pence, Sarah Pond and Carly Shell.
Seven departmental awards were earned: Cooper Hand (English), Bernard Kuether (Mathematics), Haylee Pence (Science), Ryan Ford (Social Studies), Haylee Pence (Foreign Language) and Coleman Ryan (Business/Technology).
Class Officers consisted of:
President – Carly Shell
Vice President – Coleman Ryan
Secretary – Arianna Richards
Treasurer – Brooke Gostomsky
