The Covington Village Council honored A.J. Ouellette, a 2014 Covington graduate, during the Council Meeting on January 20, 2026 for his accomplishments in the Canadian Football League where he helped the Saskatchewan Roughriders win the Grey Cup Championship on November 16, 2025.
There were some supporters from the community present to witness how well the Covington Village Council honored A.J. and explained how much of an impact he has had within the community.
Plus, there was information provided about an event where the community of Covington will honor A.J. Ouellette on Sunday, February 8th from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at the Covington Fraternal Order of Eagles.
When A.J. was a student Covington High School, he established himself as one of the best athletes in the history of Covington. As a Buccaneer he excelled in three sports – football, wrestling and track. In football under coach Dave Miller, A.J. Ouellette rushed for 2,434 yards and scored 46 touchdowns as a junior; rushed for 2,533 yards and scored 42 touchdowns as a senior; had 5,475 career rushing yards; had 7,498 career all-purpose yards; and scored 99 career touchdowns and 672 career points. He was also blessed to represent his team and coaches as the Offensive Player of the Year in the state of Ohio as a senior.
He always knew he wanted to play collegiate football at a big-time program, but unfortunately the only interest A.J. primarily received came from smaller schools in Division II and Division III. After visiting some bigger schools, A.J. decided to walk on at Ohio University because he felt the coaches were genuine when they indicated they would give him a chance to prove myself.
Coach Frank Solich and Coach Tim Albin were men of their word as they did give A.J. a chance to showcase his talent and the results were everything he could dream of and more. A.J. was blessed to have an outstanding collegiate career at Ohio University and bonded closely with many great teammates. A.J. considers himself a Bobcat for life!
A.J.’s dream of playing professional football became a reality as a member of the Toronto Argonauts and the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the Canadian Football League. He has been blessed with the opportunity provided by the Argonauts’ organization and is extremely proud to be a part of the 2022 Grey Cup Championship. He is also proud of helping the Saskatchewan Roughriders win the Grey Cup Championship in 2025, which is why Covington is honoring him for his accomplishments and emotion his success has impacted the Covington Community.
On A.J. Ouellette Day at the Covington Fraternal Order of Eagles, any people from inside and outside of Covington are invited to attend this great day to honor this great person for how much he has represented the Covington Community.
