Police Chief

Village of Covington, Ohio

The Village of Covington, Ohio, is seeking a highly qualified professional to be the Village’s Police Chief. The Covington Police Department is a full-service, community-oriented, Village Police Department, serving the citizens of the Village of Covington 24 hours a day. The Police Chief is responsible for the overall leadership, administration, and operation of the department. Police Chief will be in command of six (6) Full-Time Officers including a Sergeant and School Resource Officer.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice Preferred. Associate’s degree required.
  2. Training and/or experience which evidences a comprehensive knowledge of law enforcement practices and procedures and management practices and procedures.
  3. Five (5) years’ experience in law enforcement, two (2) at a command or supervisory rank.
  4. Possesses a valid Ohio Peace Officer Training Certificate.
  5. Must meet the requirements to be bonded.
  6. Must possess a valid Ohio driver’s license.
  7. Must Maintain Leads certification.
  8. Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen test and background check.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary range is $76,000 to $86,000 depending on qualifications. Full-time – Exempt Position.

Work schedule can fluctuate week to week but generally shall equate to 80 hours over two weeks. No overtime. Full Health Insurance (HSA or PPO), with an added Village Contribution of $2,000 for employees or $4,000 for employee + children. 100% Premium paid by the Village. Vacation and sick accrual. 24-hours of personal leave. Life Insurance offered. Short- and Long-Term Disability offered. Dental and Vision offered. 12 paid holidays. Uniforms/Equipment and Continuing Education provided. Ohio Police & Fire Retirement Fund Membership.
