All Ordinances and Resolutions that are currently under consideration, meaning they have not yet been approved, are listed below. This includes 1st reading, 2nd reading, and 3rd reading as noted below. It is important to note that legislation is not adopted until after the 3rd Reading (or by Emergency). Approved Ordinances from the current year and previous years are also available.
Generally, the process for approving legislation includes three readings, which allow for public input at all stages. Ordinances and Resolutions may be approved as an Emergency and approved with only one reading by a 3/4th vote of the Council. This occurs when legislation is time sensitive or necessary to continue the operations of the Village.
The standard process for approval of legislation is as follows:
- 1st Reading – An Ordinance or Resolution is brought up for consideration and discussion. This reading includes formal discussion between the Council and public. The Council has the ability to modify the proposed legislation by motion after discussion.
- 2nd Reading – After the first reading the Council will again hear the Ordinance or Resolution at the next meeting and allow public input and comment. The Council has the ability to modify the proposed legislation by motion after discussion.
- 3rd Reading – After the second reading the Council will again hear the Ordinance and Resolution at the next meeting. The Council has the ability to modify the proposed legislation by motion after discussion. Council will vote on the proposed Ordinance or Resolution and said legislation will be considered adopted.
This list is not a comprehensive list and should not be considered complete or final. All documents below are meant as a reference to allow the community to see the draft documents. The Village reserves the right to not post any potential ordinance or resolution for any reason.
