Village of Covington, Ohio

Covington is a village in Miami County, Ohio and was incorporated in 1835 on the site of the 1793 Fort Rowdy. Laid out in 1816, Covington was previously known under the names of Friendship, Newberry, and Stillwater. A post office called Stillwater was established in 1825 and changed to the name of Covington, Ohio in 1836.

Phase 1 – SPRING 2022

The Schoolhouse Park Master Plan is broken down into multiple phases.  Phase 1 (3 acres), which will begin construction in 2022, includes some of the most desired elements for the park, including a splashpad and new restrooms. This phase will be bid out in Spring 2022 and will be completed by 2023.

Work Completed in Phase 1 (Download Phase 1 PDF)

  • Demolition and removal of existing conditions
  • Earthwork including excavation, grading, adding topsoil, and seeding
  • Utilities installation – hydrants, water, sewer, storm, electric
  • Pavement / Curb / Sidewalk construction for the Phase 1 area
  • Splashpad (30’ x 30’) Construction
  • Main Pavilion and Restroom (4,000 square feet) Construction
  • *NEW* Amphitheater

Funding for Phase 1:

  • Estimated Engineer’s Cost for Phase 1 (not including Amphitheater): $1,048,166.50
  • Estimated Engineer’s Cost for Amphitheater: $300,000
  • Total Estimated Cost: $1,348,166.50
  • LWCF Grant: $500,000 (awarded to Village in March 2022)
  • Private Donations for Phase 1: $658,000 (pledged / in hand)
  • Public Funding: $325,000 (in 2022 budget)
