Village of Covington, Ohio

Covington is a village in Miami County, Ohio and was incorporated in 1835 on the site of the 1793 Fort Rowdy. Laid out in 1816, Covington was previously known under the names of Friendship, Newberry, and Stillwater. A post office called Stillwater was established in 1825 and changed to the name of Covington, Ohio in 1836.

Utility Operator I or II

Village of Covington, Ohio

Pay Range: $24.66. – $32.56 (depending on qualifications)

Full Time

The Village of Covington, Ohio, is seeking a highly motivated individual to work as a Utility Operator I or II for the Village (depending on qualifications).  Under general direction of the Utilities Director and/or Supervisor. The Utility Operator I or II will assist with operating the water and wastewater operations of the Village. And at times may support the Public Works Department as needed.

Qualifications

Operator I

  1. High School Diploma or general education degree (GED).
  2. Training and / experience which evidences knowledge of water and wastewater treatment plant operations. But not required.
  3. Water Supply License I and/or Wastewater License I (or ability to obtain within one year of hiring)
  4. Preferred at least one (1) year of experience with Water or Wastewater Treatment plant operations. But not required.
  5. Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a Class B endorsement (must be acquired within 1-year of hiring).
  6. Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen test and background check.
  1. Valid Ohio driver’s license.

Operator II

  1. High School Diploma or general education degree (GED).
  2. Training and / experience which evidences knowledge of water and wastewater treatment plant operations;
  3. Water Supply License I and Wastewater License I
  4. At least two (2) years of experience with Water or Wastewater Treatment plant operations.
  5. Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a Class B endorsement (must be acquired within 1-year of hiring).
  6. Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen test and background check.
  7. Valid Ohio driver’s license.
